52 Ways to Reduce One’s Risk of Growing Cancer




Cancer is a disease that has become very prevalent in our western society. Many people believe that exposure to toxins is one of the major causes of cancer. Everyone knows that toxins are all around us. Unfortunately, many people just throw up their hands and give up trying to stay away from toxic substances and rely on the medical professions to solve ay diseases that they get. Unfortunately, medical treatments of cancer are very unhelpful and actually will shorten your life.

A friend of my father, who died of cancer, said, “You see, diet does not make a difference in avoiding cancer.” I was shocked when I first heard this. Later on, I realized that this is the pervasive view by many people. However, I refute this notion that diet does not make a difference or that there is nothing we can do about toxins since they are everywhere. Diet does appear to make a difference as we have seen with people who eat poorly and die way too young.

There are many things each of us can do to keep toxins out of our bodies, and avoiding toxins will have the added benefits of lessening the manufacturing of these toxins in the first place and lessen the amount of toxins in the environment.

In addition to diet, there are many other practices to follow to lessen disease and improve our bodies’ strength.

So, here are the 52 best ways to reduce one’s risk of growing cancer and to live a wonderful life:

1. Eat only certified organic food.
2. Focus on consuming a plant based diet consisting mostly of raw, uncooked foods that provide higher nutrition levels.
3. Drink wheatgrass juice daily since it alkalizes the body and provides a complete array of nutrition.(3)
4. Detoxify your body on a regular basis through fasting, juice diets, and organic herbal supplements.
5. Take a probiotic supplement daily.
6. Don’t drink tap water; drink local safely tested spring water or Raw Living Water.
7. Phase out use of all plastics used for food and beverage storage, including food containers, bottles, cling wrap, and bags; instead use glass food container and bottles, and plant based, biodegradable plastic bags.(1)
8. Stop using canned foods since they contain BPA’s; use fresh produce instead.(1)
9. Reduce consumption of meat, dairy, and eggs since these foods contain higher toxin levels; eat smaller portions of animal foods or none at all.
10. Eat only wild caught, sustainably harvested seafood since conventional fish contains high BPA levels; also eat lower on the food chain, plant eating species like sardines.(1)
11. Use a ceramic coffee mug, a stainless steel or glass water bottle instead of plastic beverage containers.(1)
12. When dining out eat at restaurants serving only organic and vegan foods, unless you know the restaurant serves only organic meat and dairy.(1)
13. Avoid processed sweeteners like sugar; instead use natural sweeteners like honey and stevia.
14. Phase out all processed foods with unfamiliar ingredients, including highly processed oils; instead go for low processed or fresh, local, organic foods and fresh produce.
15. Eat more cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, and kale that metabolize estrogen in its harmful state.(1)
16. Avoid Styrofoam since it is full of toxins and is not recyclable; use stainless steel containers for dining leftovers.(1)
17. Avoid synthetic fragrances of all kinds, i.e. perfume, cologne, air fresheners, sprays, etc.; instead use organic essential oils, like a few drops of lavender oil mixed with spring water in a spray bottle and spray on clothing and the air.(1)
18. Phase out synthetic cosmetics and personal care products that are ripe with chemicals and toxins; instead use only organic, vegan certified beauty care products.(1)
19. Avoid cash register receipts at all costs since they contain extremely high levels of BPA; simple refuse receipts for minor purchases and ask for 8.5 x 11” paper printouts for larger purchases; wash your hands after handling receipts.(1)
20. Clear your kitchen of all non stick and aluminum cookware since they both contain large amounts of chemicals and toxins; use cast iron and high quality stainless steel instead.(1)
21. Add water filters to kitchen and bath since many toxins are absorbed through the skin.(1)
22. In the home, avoid chemical laden, conventional clothing, bed sheets, mattresses, furniture, and so on; instead go for organic versions.
23. When doing home renovation and building construction, avoid conventional building materials and instead use only chemical and toxin free paints, plywood, particle boards, lumber, insulation, carpets, etc.
24. In the office, avoid conventional appliances and electronics; instead use green certified, chemical and toxin free appliance, electronics (www.greenpeace.org/usa/en/campaigns/toxics/hi-tech-highly-toxic/company-report-card/), furniture, and furnishings.
25. Phase out plastics everywhere since plastics in indoor environments help pollute the air; instead choose natural materials like wood, metal, glass.
26. Ban smoking in your home or office and avoid any smoke.
27. Avoid conventional cleaning products which are full of toxic chemicals; instead make your own home cleaners with natural products like lemon, vinegar, and borax.
28. Avoid conventional laundry detergent and dryer anti static cling sheets since these are full of toxic chemicals; instead choose a truly nontoxic detergent that has no smell or even better, choose soapnuts, a tree’s berries that has a natural cleansing ability and can be tossed directly into the washer.
29. Choose an electric vehicle or do without a car since gas burning autos contribute to our petroleum dependent society, pollute the environment, and are full of toxins in the interior; bicycling, walking, and mass transit are options to driving.
30. Skip chlorine and bromine sanitized swimming pools since they are a cesspool of toxins; instead find a natural body of water to swim in (www.swimmingholes.org) or find a pool that is chemical free.(2)
31. Open your windows at night to let in the fresh air when sleeping, even in the winter time since air pollution is a major problem.
32. Exercise daily to keep your body fit and help with detox.
33. Eat dinner at 5:00 pm and don’t eat after 8:00 pm; this gives your body time to digest dinner and detoxify at night.
34. Expose your body to sunlight for a few minutes in the morning or late afternoon to ensure adequate levels of Vitamin D.
35. Get adequate rest; go to bed by 10:00 pm to ensure adequate sleep time and darkness which allows the body to create melatonin.
36. Destress your life by choosing to live a calmer life by avoiding stressful situations in the first place; if you feel stress, immediately seek a calm environment and rest.
37. Actively seek and create situations that create joy and happiness in your life everyday and avoid people or places that don’t.
38. Laugh a lot, laugh even when you don’t feel like laughing since the body does not know the difference and your body’s serotonin levels are boosted when you do laugh.
39. Create your life that is based primarily on what brings you the most joy and satisfaction; this will ensure that most of your time is spent doing activities that are fulfilling.
40. Engage in meditation or yoga daily since these practices calm the mind and strengthen the body mind connection.
41. Follow a spiritual belief if that brings you contentment.
42. Meet with friends and family daily in positive ways since a sense of community is vital to a satisfying life.
43. Give yourself to the world; volunteer your time for causes you believe in since you receive only as much as you give.
44. Share with other people since this makes everyone feel better.
45. Be kind to everyone; choose to be the best person that you can be in every moment.
46. Choose to live in the most beautiful place you can find since this will make you feel happier everyday.
47. Create something that you can share with the world.
48. Live in and enjoy the moment for that is the true essence of living.
49. Celebrate the seasons with other people and by going outside to marvel at the beauty of nature.

50. Live in a peaceful and positive community or village where you enjoy being.
51. Love yourself and you will emanate love to all you meet.
52. Forgive yourself and everyone else for no one and no thing is perfect in this world.
