Powerful Digestion for Weight Loss - Roland’s 12 Ways of Improving Digestion

Digestion is one of the most important keys to good health that is very important that people understand how to facilitate proper digestion. With a healthy lifestyle and proper digestion, weight loss is natural as your body will change to its natural slim weight. When foods are better digested and eliminated, your body will slowly adapt to its healthy slim physique. You will look slim and sexy like never before!

1. Take Probiotics

Most everyone is low on beneficial bacteria and will benefit immensely from taking probiotics daily. I have found tremendous improvement, and start to feel awful if I don’t consume probiotics. Taking probiotics is very important for proper digestion. I recommend the ones with the higher number of strains and concentrations, and that are vegan. Here is Roland’s Favorite Probiotics:

2. Take Digestive Enzymes
Digestive enzymes are necessary to digest food as well. Children have many enzymes, but as we age our bodies lose their ability to produce them, so taking the supplemental form of enzymes is very crucial. I recommend enzymes with high dosages and that are vegan.

3. Take HCL
HCL or Hydrochloric Acid is naturally produced in the body’s stomach during the digestion process. However, due to stress, poor diet, and aging, many people lose their ability to produce HCL. Without HCL, the body cannot effectively digest and assimilate the nutrients from food. Therefore, taking HCL supplements after a meal on a regular basis may be a good idea for some people.

4. Eat Raw Foods
Raw foods that are uncooked or not heated above 115 degrees F are full with enzymes and, therefore, easier to digest. Once you heat foods, the enzymes are killed and the foods become harder to digest, thus putting a strain on our bodies that some feel is one cause of aging. I think the cooked processed starches like French fries, potato chips, pasta, breads, pizza, sandwiches, etc. really pack on the pounds. Simply avoid them and eat fresh, unprocessed foods. 5. Pay Attention to Food Combining
I have felt noticeable improvement by following the basic precepts of food combining, like don’t mix starches with proteins, don’t mix sweet fruit with acid fruit, eat only one fat or protein at a time, don’t mix acid foods with starches, eat watermelon alone, and so on. Proper food combining simply allows our digestion more efficiently and certain foods eaten together cause a bad reaction.

6. Eat Simpler Meals
Have you ever noticed feeling lousy or really bloated after eating at a potluck meal? I think this is attributed to the numerous types of foods that are eaten at one time. Eating simpler meals of only a few ingredients makes digestion much easier for our body, and therefore, our body can do a better job and assimilate more nutrients. In nature, animals often eat just one food at a time.

7. Eat Slowly
Eating on the run or while multitasking on the computer or watching TV may seem okay, but it actually causes us to not pay attention to how we are eating. Eating while distracted typically results in improperly chewed foods and less chewing time which means less saliva secretion. By eating slowly and properly chewing your food many times, saliva has a chance to start digesting our food in the mouth and chewing better helps to break down the food more thoroughly, allowing for easier digestion and better assimilation.

8. Eat a Healthy Diet
Did you know eating an unhealthy diet of low fiber, heavily processed, high sodium, high sugar, high in preservatives, high in synthetic ingredients, highly dehydrated, high in animal (meat, eggs, and dairy) foods will inhibit proper digestion? It’s especially important to avoid highly processed and synthetic foods like soy sauce, oils, breads, pasta, French fries, sugar, salt, sweeteners, and so on. These are foods that are so far removed from their natural origin as to be unrecognizable as to what they are made from. Try by adding one healthy food to your lifestyle each day and you will gradually find the healthy foods that you enjoy eating. Eat healthy foods like fresh, organic, raw, vegan fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, herbs, sea vegetables, sprouts, fermented foods (sauerkraut, kimchee), and marine phytoplankton. I have found that certain herbs like Aloe vera, garlic, ginger, and peppermint help with digestion. Raw garlic helps to control bacteria, parasites, or viruses, is anti inflammatory, and has many antioxidants. This is important since obesity is now believed to be chronic inflammation.

9. Eat Smaller Sized Meals
Have you ever noticed how you feel after eating a large meal like Thanksgiving? One feels really tired and maybe lousy. By eating smaller sized meals you allow your body to digest the food better. Remember your stomach is only the size of your fist. The beauty of eating smaller meals is that one gets to eat more often during the day, like 3 to 5 times instead of 1 to 3 times a day. As long as the foods you eat are healthy, you will still lose weight.

10 Stop Eating Vinegar
Vinegar is a poison (acetic acid) and does not belong in our body. I think there is something in vinegar that inhibits digestion. As a child I would have painful reactions after eating foods with vinegar, like pickles. When I stopped eating vinegar the pain went away! To add flavor to salad dressings, instead of vinegar, use fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice.

11. Exercise
I have found that exercise helps my body in every way and helps digestion too. By exercising on a regular basis, one’s metabolism increases which raises one’s appetite and desire for food. After all, our bodies are meant to be moving most of the day and food is meant to provide us with energy. If we are sedentary, we really don’t need much food. I also recommend low impact exercises that strengthen the body like swimming, bicycling, fast walking, hiking, tennis, etc. instead of higher impact sports that will break down the body quicker as we age.

12. Avoid Stress
Some amount of low to moderate stress is normal and can be healthy. Too much stress can wreak havoc on one’s body in many ways, including digestion. Digestion can be shut down if someone feels too much stress. On top of that, we often eat more foods and eat unhealthier foods when we are stressed. The easiest thing to do is to simply avoid any situation that can feel too stressful. If that is not possible, then it is best to learn how to effectively manage the stress so that it does not feel stressful.Here is Roland’s Favorite Stress Relief Product – Peppermint Oil:
